Our Ambassador in New York – Jonathan Tishbi
By: By Noa Yechieli

Those accustomed to the gourmet world in New York are certainly familiar with “Alain Ducasse”, the famous and prestigious New York restaurant with chains in Paris and Tokyo. However, Israelis are in for a surprise when they walk through the doors of Alain Ducasse and find a little taste of home in the form of an Israeli family winery.

The restaurant’s wine list includes two wines from the Tishbi Winery. The first is white – Chardonnay Reserve 2003 and the second is red – Cabernet Sauvignon Jonathan Tishbi Special Reserve 1999.

Both wines were added to this excellent restaurant’s wine list after its sommelier -wine steward – tasted them and was impressed. The wines weren’t surprised. For some time now, they have been starring at several other prestigious New York restaurants. This isn’t the first director to cast them in his film, and it probably won’t be the last. Tishbi wines appear on the wine list at the “Peter Luger” steak restaurant, considered one of the best in the world, as well the wine lists of “Gramercy” and “Sparks”. At “Kraft”, Tishbi’s Merlot Estate 2000 plays a leading role – it is being served there as the Wine of the Month.

Tishbi Wineries markets 30% of their production abroad. Their wines are sold in five states throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada, Holland, Germany and Sweden.

 Tishbi’s Special Reserve Series
In the Jonathan Tishbi Special Reserve Series, Tishbi’s elite series, three types of wines are produced in limited quantities: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, produced from the first juices of selected, quality grapes, gathered from a single vineyard. The rare quality of the raw material is combined with a strict wine making process, to produce fine, high-quality wines.
